44 Industrialists to Receive Prestigious CIP Status
The government will bestow recognition upon 44 individuals as Commercially Important Persons (Industry) across various categories for their significant contributions to the country’s overall economy through the establishment of industries, job creation, and increased national income in 2021.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion of the award ceremony, extending their greetings to all the deserving recipients.
The awards will be presented by Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque as the chief guest at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital. Special guests including Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Md Jashim Uddin, will also be present. Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana will preside over the function.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin stated in his message that the ‘CIP (Industry) 2021’ award serves as a distinctive recognition by the state for industrialists and institutions, exemplifying the government’s continuous support for the private sector. He expressed his belief that this accolade would inspire industrialists to strive for product excellence and contribute to increased productivity.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, highlighted that the honoring and provision of cards to distinguished individuals selected as ‘CIP (Industry) 2021’ is an integral part of the government’s support and policy initiatives, spearheaded by the Ministry of Industries. She expressed her belief that this endeavor would motivate entrepreneurs in the private sector to employ their creativity and innovation in the industrial domain, ultimately reinforcing efforts to establish new industries and generate employment opportunities in the country.
According to a press release, out of the 44 businessmen, six have been selected in the ex-officio category, 25 in the large industries category, 10 in the medium industries category, two in the small industries category, and one in the micro industries category.
Each nominated CIP will be presented with a CIP card, entitling them to several benefits, including priority seat reservations in government transportation via air, road, rail, and waterways, invitations to national events, and special facilities for the treatment of their spouse and children in government hospitals. Moreover, the CIP cardholders will have access to the VIP lounge-2 at airports by utilizing their cards as passes.

‘I think the award will motivate industrialists to achieve product excellence and will play a helpful role in increasing productivity,’ he added.
In her message, prime minister Sheikh Hasina said that under the initiative of the industries ministry, honouring and giving cards to the eminent persons selected as ‘CIP (Industry) 2021’ was an important part of the government’s patronage and policy support.
‘Through this, I think, private sector entrepreneurs will be motivated to use their creativity and innovative abilities in the industrial sector,’ she added.
She believed that efforts to establish new industries and create employment in the country will be strengthened.
Among the 44 businessmen, six have been selected under ex-officio category, 25 under large industries, 10 under medium industries, two under small industries and one under micro industries category, said a press release on Saturday.
