Walton launches affordable e-bike
Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited has introduced a new, affordable electric bike model called TAKYON Leo, which has three different versions available in the market.
According to the company’s statement, this eco-friendly e-bike can travel 40-80 kilometers on a single charge. The bike’s battery takes six to eight hours to recharge and will cost only Tk0.10 per km.
The three TAKYON Leo models are equipped with battery packs of 12 AH, 20AH, and 23 AH and are priced at Tk49,850, Tk56,850, and Tk59,850, respectively. Unlike its predecessor, TAKYON 1.00 e-bike, which was released a few months ago and cost Tk1,27,750, TAKYON Leo does not require registration with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). According to the company, the BRTA has waived e-bikes that have a paddle option from registration.
The TAKYON Leo e-bike is the first of its kind in Bangladesh to receive such an exemption from the BRTA. Each of the four e-bikes can be charged at home, as their portable chargers can be plugged into 220-volt power outlets. The company offers a one-year or two-year warranty for the Leo bikes, depending on the model.
The TAKYON Leo e-bike was recently launched at Walton Headquarters in Chandra, Gazipur, with the presence of Md Mostafa Kamal, ICT Division Director General. Other attendees at the launch ceremony included Walton Digi-Tech’s Additional Managing Director Engineer Liakat Ali, Walton Hi-Tech’s Deputy Managing Director Alamgir Alam Sarkar, Senior Executive Director Easir Al-Imran, and Walton Digi-Tech’s Chief Business Officer Touhidur Rahman Raad, among others.
