Iqbal Chowdhury appointed as CEO of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL) has appointed Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury as the company’s new CEO. Iqbal Chowdhury will take over from Rajesh Surana, who has been promoted to the position of Area Manager of East and South Africa Region for Holcim Group after serving the company successfully for the past few years.
Iqbal Chowdhury is the first Bangladeshi CEO of LHBL and has over 22 years of experience working with reputed Multinational Companies in the country. He has a strong commercial and financial track record and has been the CFO at LHBL since 2017, where he was recently promoted to Chief Operating Officer.
The Chairman of LHBL, Christof Hassig, expressed his pleasure at Iqbal’s appointment, stating that he is a great fit for the company and well qualified to lead the business into the next phase. The Board aims to drive the change to become the leading innovative and sustainable building solutions company in Bangladesh.
Before joining LHBL, Iqbal Chowdhury worked at Marico Bangladesh for 11 years, where he was CFO. He also worked for Berger Paints and Avery Dennison. Iqbal holds an MBA in Finance and is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries (ICSB).
