Nagad Islamic wins ‘Best Innovation in other Financial Institution’ award

Nagad Islamic was awarded the “Best Innovation in Other Financial Institutions” at the fifth Bangladesh Innovation Award gala in 2023 for their pioneering work in introducing the country’s only Shariah-compliant mobile financial service.

The award ceremony, organized by GPH Ispat in collaboration with Aspire to Innovate (a2i) and in association with The Daily Star, took place on Saturday at a hotel in Dhaka, and was attended by more than 500 industry experts and professionals.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest of the event. Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Sadat Adnan Ahmad, Chief Marketing Officer, Muhammad Solaiman, Director of Public Affairs, Abu Sufian Mohammad Khaled, General Manager of Digital Planning and GTM, and Ariful Alam, Manager of Corporate Communications received the award on behalf of Nagad.

According to Mohammad Aminul Haque, Executive Director of Nagad and member of the Shariah Supervisory Committee of Nagad Islamic, the award recognizes the company’s successful efforts in providing Muslims with a Shariah-compliant payment solution that enables them to manage their funds in an interest-free and Shariah-compliant manner, while adhering to their religious principles and values.

The award ceremony, which followed the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Business Innovation Summit, recognized 26 winners and 23 honourable mentions out of 300 nominations from over 100 organizations in 21 categories.
