Winners announced at second edition of ‘bKash-Bigganchinta Science Festival’ in Bangladesh
The second edition of the ‘bKash-Bigganchinta Science Festival‘ culminated at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The festival, which was jointly organized by bKash and the science-based monthly magazine Bigganchinta, commenced on 31 October 2022 and concluded on Thursday (23 March) with various activities including a robot show, question and answer session, magic show, and cultural programme.
The festival also featured innovative project displays, quiz sessions, and an award-giving ceremony, as stated in a press release.
At this year’s competition, Ankita Halder and Sumaiya Ahmed from Holy Cross Girls’ High School were named the winners for their creation of bioplastic made from fish scales, which naturally decomposes over time.
The second and third place winners of the ‘bKash-Bigganchinta Science Festival’ were Aurab Azad and Farhan Mushfique from Rajshahi Shikkha Board Govt Model School And College and Rajshahi Collegiate School, and Nafis, Sajid, and Fatin from Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College respectively.
The winning teams were presented with books, trophies, medals, certificates, and laptops by Planning Minister MA Mannan, who expressed gratitude to bKash and Bigganchinta for their contribution to the event.

The festival also included a quiz competition, with Aritra Debnath and Md Najeeb Mahmood, both students of Khulna Zilla School, winning at the lower and secondary levels respectively, and Iftikhar Ahmed Sajid, a ninth-grade student of Rajshahi Collegiate School, becoming the first in the special quiz.
The event kicked off with the robot “Nao” announcing the start of the festival at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy, where young scientists presented their projects, including those focused on ‘Human Helping Project’, ‘Project Train Accident Prevention’, ‘Smart City Management System’, ‘Mini Air Cooler’, ‘Gas Leakage and Fire Safety’, ‘Smart Kitchen’, and more.
The festival also featured a science quiz competition for students of classes VI to X, as well as special quizzes, Rubik’s Cubes, and Sudoku competitions open to all.
The chief external and corporate affairs officer of bKash, Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam (retd.), director general of Bangladesh Shishu Academy and poet, Anjir Liton, editor of Bigganchinta, Abdul Kaiyum, Microbiologist Senjuti Saha, and Unmad magazine editor Ahsan Habib were among those in attendance at the event.
