During his address as the chief guest, Mayor Atiqul Islam emphasized the importance of considering the environment while focusing on urban development, stating, “Apart from developing our cities and making our country beautiful, we must also prioritize environmental concerns. We are responsible for the environmental damage we have caused, and now we are witnessing the repercussions, with Dhaka city turning into a heat island.”

However, he mentioned that proper management and recycling of plastic waste could significantly mitigate these hazards. He urged the general public to actively participate in the responsible management and recycling of plastic, as their involvement could greatly contribute to reducing environmental threats.

Each year, they recycle around 32,000 tons of plastics, including single-use plastics, to create over 100 products. The financial value of these recycled materials surpasses Tk 450 crore, which would otherwise have been spent on importing raw materials.
