Nagad, a prominent mobile financial service provider in Bangladesh, has received the esteemed “Mastercard Excellence Award” 2023 for its significant role in credit card bill payments.
The company was honored under the theme of “Master Evolution,” recognizing its excellence in facilitating credit card bill payments, marking another milestone in its journey of contributing to financial inclusion in Bangladesh.
Nagad’s Executive Director, Maruful Islam Jhalak, accepted the award on behalf of the company at a ceremony held in the capital’s Raddison Blu Hotel, where high-ranking officials from Mastercard were present.
This accolade underscores Nagad’s commitment to providing seamless and efficient solutions for credit bill payments while emphasizing its customer-centric approach. It also acknowledges the company’s pivotal role in transforming the financial landscape of Bangladesh.
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Maruful Islam Jhalak mentioned, “This recognition motivates us to work even harder toward our vision of a Smart Bangladesh. Nagad has been dedicated to promoting digital payments since its inception. In just five years, we’ve onboarded around 80 million customers, revolutionizing the financial industry. The award ceremony saw distinguished guests, including former Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman and Helen LaFave, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Dhaka. Notable figures from Bangladesh Bank’s Payment Systems Department, Md Sharafat Ullah Khan and Md Motasem Billah, were also present.

Nagad has received various international awards for its significant contribution to expanding Bangladesh’s financial market. Among them, this year’s “Fastest to Unicorn Award” was conferred by the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the “Bangladesh Startup Summit 2023,” hosted by Startup Bangladesh Ltd. The company has also been recognized as the “Best Innovative Digital Financial Service Brand” by Global Brands Magazine and received several other awards that have portrayed Bangladesh positively on the global stage.
