The narrative unfolds in the tranquil streets of Barishal Sadar, where amidst the serene atmosphere, a unique sight captures attention: a man with no legs skillfully manoeuvring a specially designed cycle to his shop. This man, Rony Hawlader, embodies resilience and entrepreneurship, overcoming physical challenges to become an inspiring figure in his community.

Rony’s journey began with adversity—he lost his legs to polio at birth and faced struggles throughout life. However, with the support of Nagad, a mobile financial service in Bangladesh, Rony’s life took a turn. Becoming a Nagad Uddokta, he transformed his modest roadside shop into a heartwarming center for both commerce and inspiration.

Rony’s story is not singular; across Bangladesh, Nagad has empowered numerous individuals with disabilities, offering them agency and independence. On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, these stories are highlighted to shed light on the challenges faced by this marginalized segment of society.
