AkijBashir Group has launched glass production at a new plant in Madhabpur, Habiganj, to meet the rising demand for basic and high-quality glass in Bangladesh’s construction sector.
Managing Director, Sk Bashir Uddin, described the expansion into glass as a logical progression, given the group’s involvement in building materials like cement, ceramics, and sanitary ware.
The group focuses on producing high-transparency glass, aiming to set new industry standards with advanced technical features.
Sk Bashir Uddin highlighted their commitment to sustainability, with 71% of the plant’s electricity coming from renewable sources, and plans to reach 100%.
He emphasized product quality, noting that Akij is the only company in Bangladesh offering 700 ppm clarity glass, superior to competitors.
The facility, employing over 1,000 people, faced significant cost increases due to delays from the pandemic and currency devaluation, bringing total investment to Tk 2,000 crore.
The group aims to explore international markets once domestic demand is met. AkijBashir Group’s legacy of innovation, driven by Sk Bashir Uddin’s leadership, continues to push the company forward in its quest for excellence across industries.
