Shushilan is hiring Market Development Officer

Shushilan, in partnership with FAO and ILO, is implementing a project in Cox’s Bazar to promote climate-adaptive farming, entrepreneurship, and market access for host communities and Rohingya refugees. The initiative supports smallholder farmers and youth in boosting income and resilience. Qualified candidates are invited to apply.
Shushilan has a zero tolerance policy with regard to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse by Shushilan’s personnel against the people they serve. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is the responsibility of everyone and all selected candidates will be required to comply with the Shushilan’s PSEA Policy at all times. Selected candidates will therefore undergo rigorous reference and background checks against their past behaviour related to sexual exploitation and abuse, and may be required to provide additional information further on in the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for strengthening the supply chain of the aggregation centers for their produces in the regional, district level market including fresh food corners
  • Prepare and disseminate work plan and implement through the FAs
  • Provide technical guidance to the FAs for implementation and monitoring of field level project activities
  • Build technical capacity of the FAs on group formation and farmers’ field school concept, value chain and market linkages
  • Maintain close collaboration with project supported Local Service Providers (LSPs), Field Associates (FAs), Project Officers and other partners
  • Establish horizontal linkage among farmers groups to strengthen and ensure supply chain of Agricultural commodities
  • Regular follow up, coordination and support the market (FM, e-voucher shops, input market) related activities to ensure their capacities to explore market opportunities for the farmers groups Determine the cost benefit analysis of FGs linked with market and plan accordingly to ensure the support
  • Conduct regular field travel and spend significant periods of time with farmers, stakeholders in the field
  • Assist aggregation centers and market outlets to explore market opportunities (FM, e-voucher shops and other market) for the potential commodities/high value commodities of project farmer groups
  • Play active role to increase access of farmers groups with their potential commodities/high value products to the higher market (to maximize the profit)
  • Ensure sales update of the aggregation centers using prescribed format
  • Demand and supply analysis of agricultural commodities, market and group mapping to understand the bigger picture of market
  • Develop success story of group and individuals
  • Perform other duties as required

Educational Requirements

  • Masters/bachelor degree in agriculture, agriculture economics, marketing, MBA and other relevant discipline.
Experience
  • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in NGO
Additional Requirements
  • Have clear understanding on knowledge management, documentation and reporting skill.
  • Have a clear understanding and working experience with multi-partners and stakeholder to keep in a platform in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated inter-personal, negotiation and multi-tasking skills.
  • Good time management skill and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Practicing innovation/creativity and achieving quality results and service.
  • Good proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • Competent in using MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint presentation
  • Good report writing and documentation ability.
  • Respect on gender, PSEA, Safeguarding, code of conduct and cultural diversity
  • Committed on response in any humanitarian emergency if necessary
  • Able to drive motorcycle with valid driving license.
  • Able to operate virtual platform like Skype/Zoom/Team etc.
