28 Bangladeshi firms win SAFA Best Presented Annual Reports Awards

Twenty-eight Bangladeshi companies have won a total of 31 accolades in the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Best Presented Annual Reports 2021 Awards competition.

The companies obtained 13 gold, nine silver and nine bronze awards and eight certificates of merits.

ICA Nepal hosted the event at the Hotel Yak and Yeti in Kathmandu on Sunday, according to a press release of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).

Bangladeshi companies did extremely well at the recent awards ceremony, taking home gold in a number of different categories. They also secured five “overall winner” awards out of six, an impressive feat.

Brac Bank was particularly successful, becoming the joint gold winner in the private sector banks category and also taking home silver in the overall winner category.

Shahjalal Islami Bank and Bank Asia both won awards for corporate governance at the Saarc anniversary celebration. Shahjalal Islami Bank won joint gold in the private sector bank category and joint gold in the overall winner category. It also secured bronze jointly in integrated reporting and silver jointly in the overall winner category.

Bank Asia became the joint gold winner in the private sector banks and in the Saarc anniversary award for corporate governance. It clinched gold in integrated reporting and bronze in the overall winner category.

Janata Bank won gold and Sonali Bank won silver in the public sector banks category. Reliance Insurance Ltd won gold and City General Insurance Co Ltd and Green Delta Insurance Ltd won certificates of merit in the insurance sector. IDLC Finance won silver in the financial services sector, joint gold in the Saarc anniversary award for corporate governance, and a certificate of merit in integrated reporting.

IPDC Finance and Bangladesh Finance Limited were both awarded bronze in the financial services sector. Bangladesh Finance Limited also won gold in the overall winner category.

Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC was awarded gold in the manufacturing sector and silver in the overall winner category. British American Tobacco Bangladesh was awarded silver in the manufacturing sector.

Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh Limited was awarded bronze in the manufacturing sector.

Grameenphone and Robi Axiata won silver and bronze respectively in the communication and IT sector.

Unique Hotel & Resorts won silver in the service sector (excluding financial services and communication and IT).

Sajida Foundation and Community Development Centre won gold and bronze respectively in the non-government organisation category, while Brac received the certificate of merit.

ACI Formulations and ACI Limited received recognition in the agriculture and diversified holdings sectors, respectively. In the public sector, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh was awarded bronze alongside Infrastructure Development Company Limited and Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund. Lastly, in the power and energy sector, Summit Power Limited and United Power Generation Distribution Company were joint silver winners.

Eastern Housing Limited was awarded bronze in the infrastructure and construction category. The award was presented to senior officials of the company by ICAB President Md Shahadat Hossain and Vice Presidents NKA Mobin and Fouzia Haque.
