Google to enter the AI race with Microsoft

Microsoft has evident long-term intentions with OpenAI, which is the most prominent among their potential collaborations.

In recent weeks, OpenAI has caused a stir online with its AI-based chatbot, ChatGPT. With its impressive versatility, this chatbot can even pen research proposals and make personalized plans based on instructions. Microsoft, a leading technology corporation based in the USA, has already invested billions of dollars in OpenAI in two phases in 2019 and 2021.

Microsoft recently made an announcement on their official blog about their continued partnership with OpenAI, stating, “We are proud to announce the next phase of our collaboration with OpenAI through a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar investment aimed at accelerating AI advancements and making their benefits accessible to everyone.”

Microsoft has shown a clear long-term interest in OpenAI, although they may have other projects in the pipeline. OpenAI has received the most attention so far.

The tech giant recently announced the launch of a new AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser on their official blog. The aim of this launch is to provide enhanced search results, more comprehensive answers, a new chat experience, and the ability to generate content.

Currently, it is available in preview mode.

As this is happening, the CEO of Google, one of the leading tech companies in the USA, announced on his official Twitter account that a new experimental conversational service called Bard, powered by LaMDA, will be coming soon.

The specifics of what Bard offers have yet to be widely known, however, it is evident that Google has put in a great deal of effort into AI and holds a vast amount of promise.

The state of the current AI race

Predicting the ultimate winner of the AI competition is challenging because both Microsoft and Google may have undisclosed information, and there could be other undisclosed competitors and unpredictable variables. However, Google’s entry into the AI field, armed with the world’s largest dataset, is expected to drive AI development and adoption in the future.

Google has access to Read More: massive datasets through Google Photos, YouTube, and Google search, which could give it an advantage in the AI race. With more data, Google AI is likely to perform better and grow more quickly through machine learning. Nevertheless, it is difficult to confirm this objectively until more information becomes available.

The scope of monetisation

The premium mode of ChatGPT, priced at 20 USD per month, has been launched with special features that are exclusively available to paid users in select areas. These benefits include extended access to ChatGPT during busy periods, quicker response times, and first priority for new features and upgrades.

The monetization plans for Bard by Google are yet to be announced and no official information has been released. However, considering Google’s successful monetization of the “search” tool through paid advertisements, it is not impossible for Bard to be monetized in the future.
