Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has announced that people can now pay all fees associated with the organization through Nagad, a mobile financial service provided by the Bangladesh Postal Department.

To this end, an agreement was recently signed between Nagad and Computer Network Systems (CNS) Limited, a digital payment service provider of BRTA, at the latter’s head office in the capital’s Pallabi area. According to a press release, the agreement will make it easier for people to access and pay for BRTA services from the comfort of their own homes.

The signing ceremony was attended by Nagad’s Executive Director Md Shafayet Alam and General Manager of Key Stakeholder Relations Mohammad Monirul Islam, as well as Senior Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of CNS Limited Major Ziaul Ahsan Sarwar (Retd) and CNS Head of Operations Mohammed Golam Mohiuddin.

Customers can now pay motor vehicle registration fees, driving license fees, fitness certificate fees, tax token fees and route permit fees using their Nagad wallet without having to physically visit banks or BRTA-designated locations.

Customers will receive an E-receipt in the Nagad payment system as soon as they pay the fees through this state-owned MFS carrier. They can show the E-receipt to collect the original receipt from banks or BRTA-designated locations at their convenience, without facing any hassle of standing in long queues.

The Executive Director of Nagad, Md Shafayet Alam said that customers will be able to save time by paying their BRTA fees through Nagad instead of waiting in line.

Nagad always works to make life easier for people, he said, adding that Bangladesh will take another step towards a cashless society through such services of Nagad.

Currently, customers can pay electricity, gas, water and other utility bills through Nagad.

Besides, salaries of educational institutions, insurance premiums, loan instalments and credit card bills can be paid by the Postal Department’s MFS carrier.
