Apple officially launched its highly anticipated iPhone 15 series, following the company’s annual tradition of introducing upgrades to its popular line of devices.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are the latest additions to Apple’s lineup, featuring the innovative Dynamic Island, a feature carried over from the previous iPhone 14 Pro. These new models feature several interesting improvements, even though the design is virtually unchanged from its predecessor.
The iPhone 15 retains its 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina display, identical to the iPhone 14. The standout addition, the Dynamic Island, is a pill-shaped cutout carried over from the iPhone 14 Pro. This cutout introduces a novel way to view notifications and interact with apps without unlocking the device. The camera has also had a big overhaul, now sporting a stunning 48-megapixel sensor.
Features for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
For those seeking the utmost in performance and features, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max offer a premium experience. These models are crafted from titanium and feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. Both are powered by the A17 Pro chip, which Apple claims to deliver the fastest performance of any smartphone and even rival some high-end PCs.
A standout feature is the Action Button, replacing the traditional ringer switch on the left side of the device. This button can be customized to execute shortcuts, activate accessibility features, open the camera, toggle the flashlight, and more.

The Pros also feature Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion support, including the always on display and the new StandBy mode introduced in iOS 17. Also, they are the first iPhones to support lightning-fast 10Gbps transfer speeds, thanks to their USB-C ports.
The “Most Pro iPhone Ever”
According to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s marketing chief, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are “our best and most Pro iPhone ever.” These devices sport Apple’s most advanced camera system, equivalent to seven distinct lenses. The upgraded 48-megapixel camera is designed to excel in low-light conditions, reduce lens flare, and harness Apple’s AI capabilities for full-res HEIF photos.
Users can switch between different focal lengths—24mm, 28mm, and 35mm—within the main camera. These iPhones offer up to 5x optical zoom, extending to an impressive 120mm focal length, a first for Apple.
Video Capabilities
For videographers, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max support shooting 4K60 ProRes videos. In a groundbreaking move, users can also record directly to an external drive via the USB-C port, provided they have the necessary cable. Apple has even introduced the capability to capture “spatial videos,” a type of 3D content, demonstrating the company’s vision of the iPhone 15 Pro as a professional tool for creators and filmmakers.
