Arla Foods Bangladesh gets National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award 2021

Arla Foods Bangladesh, the Bangladeshi subsidiary of European dairy cooperative Arla Foods, has been awarded the National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award 2021 by the Government of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Industries.

The award was granted to Arla Foods Bangladesh in the “Food” category under the “Medium Industry” segment. This marks the first time that Arla Foods Bangladesh has received such recognition, according to a press release.

In order to promote productivity nationwide, the National Productivity Organization (NPO) organized the inaugural National Conference on Productivity in 2011, under the Ministry of Industries. To encourage the active participation of industrial entrepreneurs in this initiative, the Prime Minister established the “National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award” to acknowledge the top-performing industrial organizations and entrepreneurs on an annual basis.

During the award ceremony, Laurent Ponty, the Managing Director of Arla Foods Bangladesh, received the honor from the Minister of Industries, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun.

Laurent Ponty expressed his thoughts on the achievement, stating, “Arla Foods is globally renowned for its responsible practices, which we are replicating to ensure sustainable growth in Bangladesh. This award serves as a testament to our dedication to positively contribute to Bangladesh by providing safe and nutritious dairy products. We are grateful to the Government of Bangladesh for this recognition.”

Since 2014, Arla Foods Bangladesh Ltd has been operating in Bangladesh, and it operates a packaging facility in Konabari, Gazipur, which is certified under FSSC 22000 (V5.1) standards. The company’s current product portfolio includes Dano Power and Dano Daily Pushti, offering dairy nourishment and nutrition to millions of consumers each month.

Furthermore, in alignment with the government’s aspirations for the development of the domestic dairy sector, Arla Bangladesh has partnered with Pran Dairy, a local dairy conglomerate, to promote market-driven and sustainable dairy production. The collaboration aims to increase milk productivity and quality, as well as enhance the economic output of the local dairy value chain. The key objectives of this partnership include educating and empowering smallholder farmers, assisting them in improving both the quantity and quality of their milk yield.
