Banglalink, the country’s leading digital operator, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FloSolar Solutions Limited to install a 100 MW solar power plant, marking a major step toward clean energy adoption and sustainable telecom operations in Bangladesh.
Under the agreement, FloSolar and its partners will develop, finance, and operate the plant, while Banglalink will purchase the generated power through a long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA). Once operational, the facility will supply clean energy to over 15,000 BTS sites, data centres, and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) across the country.
This initiative supports Banglalink’s target to convert 60 percent of its total energy consumption to renewable sources, significantly reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels and contributing to a greener, low-carbon economy. The solar plant is expected to cut carbon emissions by approximately 76,000 tonnes annually, transforming the telecom sector’s energy model and advancing national sustainability goals.
