BDApps National Hackathon 2022
The BDApps National Hackathon 2022 was won by Team Hacko, with Team NUB and Team Sangu coming in second and third place respectively. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak awarded prizes to the top 10 teams at the gala event organized at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center on Tuesday.
The top three teams of the competition were awarded Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 25,000 respectively. A total of Tk 5 lakh was awarded to the top 10 teams. BDApps managed by Ravi organizes this hackathon in collaboration with the ICT department.
In chief guest’s speech, Palak said that young app developers will build a smart Bangladesh. BDApps is driving innovation through a precise process. The ICT Department is providing training on frontier technologies including Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Blockchain, Robotics and Cyber Security to develop the country’s young women as skilled public resources.
He said that currently, the export income from the IT and ITES sector is 1.4 billion US dollars. By 2025, they have set their target of achieving 5 billion USD. They will be able to achieve that goal with the help of their young app developers.
On the occasion, President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Russell T Ahmed, CEO of Robi Aziata Limited Rajeev Shetty, and Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmed spoke. Later, the state minister handed over prizes to the winners.
Note that 5,000 app developers participated in the competition, divided into 2,000 teams. Before the national-level hackathon, five regional-level hackathons were organized in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet, where apps developers from across the country participated.
At the end of the regional hackathon, 15 IT organizations provided month-long online mentorship to 36 teams. The teams then competed in a national-level hackathon held on November 4-5, from which the top 10 teams were selected as winners of the competition.
