BGMEA seeks more collaboration with the Netherlands to enhance the RMG industry’s competitiveness
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sought further collaboration with the Netherlands to enhance the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s ready-made garments (RMG) industry.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan invited the Netherlands Enterprise Agency Director (International Development) André van Ommeren to the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka for a meeting on Tuesday, February 7th. During the meeting, Faruque Hassan called for increased collaboration between the two entities to drive sustainability and competitiveness within the RMG industry.
The meeting was attended by Charge D’Affaires at the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh Thijs Woudstra, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Press, Publication and Publicity Shovon Islam, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair Mohammed Kamal Uddin and Managing Director of Standard Group Engineer Mosharraf Hossain. The group discussed various topics related to the RMG industry, including ways in which the Netherlands could support its growth in a more sustainable manner.

They also discussed the progress of the Partnership for Cleaner Textile (PaCT) program, which is financially supported by the Netherlands government. The program aims to reduce the water footprint of participating garment factories in the RMG sector. The participants of the meeting expressed interest in strengthening collaboration to bring innovation and technology to the industry to make it more sustainable and competitive.
