BIJF Elects New Executive Committee for 2024-26

The Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF), a registered professional organization for journalists in the science, technology, and telecommunications sectors, has elected its new executive committee for the 2024-26 term. Hitler A Halim, editor of Infotech Insight (42), has been elected President, while Sabbir Hasan, head of online at Daily Samakal (39), has been re-elected as General Secretary. The final election results will be officially announced on Monday at 4:00 PM.

According to preliminary results, Bhuiyan Inam Lenin, editor of Monthly Computer Bichitra (46), has been elected Vice President, and Enamul Haque, staff reporter at Channel 24 (47), has secured the position of Joint General Secretary. Towhidul Islam Tushar, associated with the online division of Independent Television (45), has been elected as Organizational Secretary. Mahbubur Rahman (25) is the newly elected Publication and Research Secretary, while Md. Saiful Islam, special correspondent of Biztech24.com, has been elected Treasurer unopposed.

The position of Executive Member saw Naznin Nahar, editor of Monthly TechWorld (61), securing the highest number of votes. She is joined by Md. Enamul Karim (40), managing editor of Daily Digital Shomoy.

Voting took place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday, with 63 out of 67 registered voters casting their ballots. None of the ballots were invalidated. The election was overseen by Chief Election Commissioner SM Iqbal, founder president of ISPAB, with the assistance of Pallab Mohaimen, coordinator of the technology and business supplements of Daily Prothom Alo, and Suman Islam, news editor of Daily Sarabangla.

The Appeals Board included Mehedi Hasan, editor of ParbatyaNews.com, and Ubaydullah Badol, special correspondent of Kaler Kantho. The high voter turnout reflects the engagement and enthusiasm of BIJF members in shaping the organization’s future leadership.
