The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Nestlé Bangladesh have taken a step toward enhancing industry–academia collaboration through an industrial visit held on Thursday, 25 September, at Nestlé’s production facilities in Sreepur, Gazipur.
The BUET delegation, led by Professor Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan, Director of the Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT), included Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Bhuiyan, Assistant Professor Rifat Rahman, and students from the IAT and the Department of Chemical Engineering.
From Nestlé Bangladesh, the visiting team was received by Md Rashedul Hasan Kayes Alhayat, Manufacturing Director, along with Major Habib Haq (Retd), Dip Raj Baidya, ASM Shamsuzzaman, Rezaul Karim, Ripon Kumar, Md Ali Zobayer, and other senior officials.

During the visit, BUET students observed the application of global manufacturing technologies and multinational management systems. Nestlé officials shared insights into the company’s 158-year global legacy, operations in 185 countries, and consistent quality control standards.
Professor Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan noted that the visit provided valuable exposure to world-class industrial practices and expressed BUET’s intent to collaborate with Nestlé Bangladesh in areas such as joint research, technology transfer, and student internships.

Nestlé Bangladesh Manufacturing Director Md Rashedul Hasan emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining international production standards in Bangladesh and expressed interest in developing a long-term partnership with BUET.
Both parties discussed possible areas of cooperation to leverage BUET’s local expertise for technological innovation. The visit concluded with a photo session and tree plantation at the factory premises.
