ChatGPT has crossed a major milestone, now serving more than 800 million weekly users, according to a new report from OpenAI.
The rapid expansion reflects both widespread individual adoption and significant growth in corporate usage across industries.
OpenAI reports that use of the corporate version, ChatGPT Enterprise, has increased eightfold over the past year. Organizations are shifting from basic queries to fully structured workflows, with the adoption of custom AI projects rising 19 times year over year.

A global survey of 9,000 enterprise employees found that 75 percent say AI tools have made them faster or improved the quality of their work. On average, workers reported saving 40 to 60 minutes each day through tasks such as faster troubleshooting in IT teams and accelerated code delivery for engineering groups. Notably, three-quarters of respondents said they are now able to perform tasks they previously could not accomplish without AI.
OpenAI states that ChatGPT’s growth is strong across multiple sectors, with the fastest acceleration in technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. Corporate usage is also rising rapidly in key global markets including Australia, Brazil, and France.

The report highlights a widening productivity gap between companies that actively integrate AI into daily operations and those that lag behind. Firms and workers with intensive AI adoption are experiencing substantially greater performance gains. OpenAI concludes that the biggest barrier for organizations is no longer the capability of AI itself, but their readiness, strategy, and ability to operationalize the technology at scale.
