City Group‘s concern, Hoshendi Economic Zone, has been granted a pre-qualification license by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) to establish eco-friendly industries.

The license was handed over to Hoshendi EZ Chairman and Managing Director Shampa Rahman by BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury at a function held at the BEZA headquarters, which was attended by City Economic Zone Chairman Fazlur Rahman.

Located on 108 acres of land in Gazaria, Munshiganj, Hoshendi EZ plans to invest approximately Tk 10,000 crore in the zone to set up 10 industrial units including cement, salt and chemicals, ceramics, shipbuilding, and a 100-MW power plant.

The establishment of the new EZ is expected to create 15,000 new job opportunities, and investors from China, Thailand, and Japan have already shown interest in investing in the zone, as per a press release issued by the Hoshendi EZ Chairman.
