Furniture Industry Set to Become Second Largest Export Sector Following RMG

Salim H Rahman, Founder of HATIL, and Chairman of the Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners Association, has underlined the growing prominence of the furniture industry in the country as it inches closer to becoming the second-largest export sector, right after the renowned ready-made garment (RMG) industry.

Salim H Rahman conveyed this significant development during his remarks at the inauguration of the corporate office of Innovative Trading, a key lacquer supplier for the furniture sector, as stated in a press release.

Salim H Rahman went on to highlight the remarkable expansion that the furniture sector in Bangladesh is currently witnessing, driven by daily advancements and increasing investments by young entrepreneurs.

Presently, the furniture industry boasts a market value of approximately Tk30,000 crore, reflecting substantial potential to cater to global demand and international markets.

Mohammed Didarul Alam, Chief Executive Officer of Innovative Trading, emphasized the transformative role of this sector as a valuable contributor to the country’s development and foreign currency earnings, ranking just behind the dominant RMG sector.

Furthermore, he pointed out the sector’s ability to generate employment opportunities for the nation’s unemployed population. In addition to supplying raw materials essential for the furniture industry, Innovative Trading provides an array of chemicals and materials serving various industries, including paint, coatings, and packaging.
