Govt’s Eid gift via Nagad Brings Joy to Poor
The distribution of social safety net allowances to impoverished individuals via Nagad before Eid-ul-Fitr has brought happiness to Bangladesh’s underprivileged population.
In just four days before the holiday, the government utilized this mobile financial services provider to distribute approximately Tk 861 crore among nearly 5.8 million beneficiaries throughout the country.
The unexpected cash aid from the government prior to Eid-ul-Fitr brought joy to many impoverished individuals struggling to provide for their families.
Delwar Hossain, a physically challenged resident of Manikganj’s Ghior village, expressed his relief at receiving Tk 2,550 in his Nagad wallet the night before Eid.
He was able to purchase essential food items for his family, and thousands of other underprivileged families celebrated the holiday with newfound happiness thanks to the support of the Social Welfare Department.
Nagad played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and transparent disbursement process for the government’s allowances.
Founder and Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk expressed his delight in contributing to the government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of impoverished individuals before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Nagad’s dedication to improving people’s lives through digital services has made it the government’s preferred choice for disbursing allowances, education stipends, and other forms of cash aid.

Nagad’s digitalization of the entire disbursement system has eliminated the irregularities and injustices that plagued the process in the past.
The MFS carrier’s transparency has ensured that the allowances reach their intended beneficiaries directly, without any interference from ghost beneficiaries, local public representatives’ relatives, or non-poor individuals.
In 2021 and 2022, Nagad successfully disbursed 75% of all social safety net allowances, including old-age, widow, and special needs allowances for underprivileged individuals and students.
