Grameenphone’s startup innovation platform, GP Accelerator, organized the eighth session of its nationwide bootcamp, ‘Jelay Jelay Smart Uddyokta,’ on Saturday, June 29, at the IDEB building in Dhaka.
The initiative aims to discover and develop smart entrepreneurs at the regional level, focusing on university students and promising young entrepreneurs.
Approximately 200 entrepreneurs participated in the event, which is part of a series of bootcamps across 20 regions in Bangladesh. The program featured Brigadier General Mohammad Khalil-ur-Rahman, Director General of the Systems and Services Division of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), as the chief guest. Hans Martin Henrichsen, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer (CCAO) of Grameenphone, and other notable figures, including local community organizers, startup founders, and industry experts, were also in attendance. Muhammad Sohel Rana, Program Lead of GP Accelerator, conducted the event.

The bootcamp included a workshop on design thinking, covering essential topics such as product testing, market research, financial modeling, and creating a pitch deck for investment. The second part of the event featured an idea pitching competition, where local entrepreneurs presented innovative solutions to local problems.
Hans Martin Henrichsen emphasized the importance of developing smart entrepreneurs to build a Smart Bangladesh, highlighting Grameenphone’s commitment to enhancing youth skills. The winning team received a prize of Tk one lakh. Since its inception in 2015, GP Accelerator has supported 50 startups, creating employment for half a million people and contributing significantly to the country’s economic development.
