Grameenphone Introduces Tourist SIM
Grameenphone has introduced the “Tourist SIM” to cater to foreigners, entrepreneurs, travelers, business owners, traders, and others visiting Bangladesh for short trips. This groundbreaking initiative positions Grameenphone as the first operator in Bangladesh to offer a SIM specifically tailored for short term visitors, allowing them to enjoy seamless connectivity without incurring excessive roaming and additional charges.
Interested users can easily purchase authorized Tourist SIMs by registering their own identification numbers and providing a valid passport and visa. The SIM provides access to the country’s top ranked network from any location in Bangladesh. It offers three different validity options: 7, 15, and 30 days, each with its own set of features and pricing.
The Tourist SIM packages include various benefits such as talk time, local minutes, bonus data, SMS, and special GP Star status. Customers can conveniently avail themselves of the Tourist SIMs at over 40 GPCs and GP Experience Centers located in tourist hubs, as well as at land, air, and seaports, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
During the launch event held at Le Meridien Dhaka, key figures from Grameenphone and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) discussed the significance of the Tourist SIM in promoting tourism and enhancing connectivity in the country. The event showcased the cultural heritage of Bangladesh through a performance of Pala Gaan in Puthipath style, highlighting the beauty and values of the nation.

Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman expressed excitement about introducing the Tourist SIM, emphasizing the company’s commitment to customer-centric innovation and its dedication to promoting the country’s economy through the tourism sector. Then, soon after Grameenphone’s Head of Marketing, Head of Premium Segment Farha Naz Zaman took charge, the tourist sim packaging showcased the unique “Tona Tuni” and “Pattachitra” designs reflecting the warmth and hospitality of Bangladesh. The Tourist SIMs are initially available in prepaid packages, including regular and eSIMs. Numbers assigned to Tourist SIMs will be recycled automatically after 30 days unless users choose to deactivate them.
