Internet er Duniya Shobar (IDS)
Launched in March 2023, the Internet er Duniya Shobar (IDS) – Internet for All initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in Bangladesh, particularly for rural women. Covering 2,000 unions, IDS has transformed the lives of millions by increasing internet awareness and accessibility.
The initiative leverages uthan boithok (courtyard gatherings)—a culturally familiar method—to introduce rural women to digital opportunities through interactive learning. Activities such as quizzes and educational sessions provide valuable insights, including healthcare information curated in collaboration with Dr. Tasnim Jara.

With smartphone penetration around at just 41% in urban areas and 26% in rural regions, internet usage among women remains significantly lower than men around (70:30 ratio). IDS addresses this disparity by connecting participants with essential digital services, enabling them to make informed decisions.
Strategic partnerships with Nokia, Dhaka Bank, and Prothom Alo have further amplified IDS’s reach, ensuring wider access to digital resources, financial solutions, and media literacy. Designed for scalability, the initiative continually adapts to evolving needs through updated content and new thematic approaches, reinforcing Grameenphone’s commitment to women’s digital inclusion.
