In a groundbreaking development for Bangladesh’s automotive industry, IFAD Autos PLC has achieved a major milestone by exporting locally manufactured air-conditioned buses to Bhutan.

This marks a new chapter for Bangladesh, traditionally reliant on imported buses, as IFAD Autos sends an initial batch of 11 air-conditioned buses, setting a historic precedent in the nation’s automotive sector.

This export highlights the quality and reliability of Bangladeshi-made buses and paves the way for Bangladesh’s entry into the international automotive market, as noted in a press release.

With the first shipment now in Bhutan, other neighboring countries, including Nepal, have shown interest, signaling promising potential for future exports.

IFAD Autos PLC Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Tipu stated, “With government support in vendor development, there’s an annual demand for over 100 air-conditioned buses in Bhutan alone. We are also seeing inquiries from other SAARC nations like Nepal.”

He highlighted that this could establish Bangladesh as a regional automotive hub, attracting further support from authorities and driving growth in the local bus manufacturing industry, ultimately boosting the nation’s economy.
