ISPAHANI Wins National Tea Awards in Two Categories
Ispahani Tea Limited’s Tea Garden achieved remarkable success at the inaugural National Tea Awards, winning two prestigious categories. The awards were presented during a ceremony held on ‘National Tea Day-2023’ to recognize Ispahani’s exceptional contributions to the tea industry in Bangladesh.
Mirza Ahmed Ispahani, the Director of Ispahani Group, graciously accepted the awards on behalf of Ispahani Tea Limited. The first category in which they were recognized was ‘Best Tea Plantation Based on Labor Welfare.’ Additionally, Golam Mostafa, the Chief Operating Officer of Ispahani – Tea Estate, and Upalakshi Tripura, a dedicated tea leaf picker from Neptune Tea, received the award for ‘Best Tea Leaf Picker.’
National Tea Day, celebrated annually on June 4 since 2021, commemorates Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic appointment as the Chairman of the Tea Board on the same date in 1957. To mark the third National Tea Day, the Bangladesh Tea Board organized a vibrant program in Srimangal, Moulvibazar.
The National Tea Awards were introduced as a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Commerce and the Bangladesh Tea Board, recognizing significant contributions across various domains within the country’s tea industry. Ispahani’s Jerin Tea Garden secured the award for the best tea garden based on worker welfare. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi presented the award to Mirza Ahmed Ispahani on behalf of Ispahani. Moreover, Uplakshi Tripura, a diligent tea worker from Neptune Tea Garden, won the award for the best tea picker category. Ispahani’s Chief Operating Officer, Golam Mostafa, and Uplakshi Tripura received this esteemed recognition.

The event’s chief guest was Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Imran Ahmed, along with Vice Principal Md. Abdus Shaheed MP, were the special guests. The function was presided over by Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. Other notable attendees included Major General Md. Ashraful Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Tea Board, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, President of FBCCI, and many more.
