Nagad Implements Agreement to Provide Stipend for Primary Students
Tripartite agreement has been signed among the Directorate of Primary Education, Department of Posts, and Nagad Limited for the distribution of stipends to primary students for the next five years, starting from the current financial year. The agreement is subject to a mid-term evaluation.
The signing took place in the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education’s meeting room at the Secretariat of Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, as per a press release from Nagad.
The agreement was signed by Director General of Education Department Shah Rezwan Hayat, Director of Postal Department Saleh Ahmed, and Executive Director of Nagad Shafayet Alam on behalf of Md.
Under this agreement, the stipend will be paid to the mobile accounts of parents of primary students via EFT through the GTUP system.
The target is to benefit 1 crore 3 million students every fiscal year.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, who was present at the signing ceremony, stated that sending stipends is an important responsibility, and it is an honor and glory for Nagad.
He added that primary education is the foundation of education and that the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is always ready to make education enjoyable and effective for children through information technology.
State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain mentioned that the agreement is part of the ministry’s efforts to bring transparency, ease, and mobility to the scholarship program.
The scholarship will prevent primary school dropouts, generate interest in education among children, and empower women by providing the money to mothers.
Tanveer A Mishuk, Managing Director of Nagad, commented on the agreement, saying that the government’s distribution of stipends has significantly decreased the dropout rate.

Mishuk added that many students and their parents are unaware of where the stipends come from, and Nagad wants to inform people across the country that the Honorable Prime Minister provides the stipend.
During the signing ceremony, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed and Post and Telecommunication Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman were also present.
