Nagad Introduces Intelligent Payment Solution for Livestock Markets
Nagad has introduced a smart payment option at cattle haats (markets) to facilitate safe and convenient buying and selling of sacrificial animals. This initiative aligns with Bangladesh’s vision of becoming a “Smart Nation,” as stated in a recent press release.
Customers utilizing Nagad’s payment solution at smart cattle markets will not only enjoy maximum security but also receive attractive gifts as a token of appreciation. This endeavor is a collaborative effort between the Bangladesh Bank, Dhaka North City Corporation, Chattogram City Corporation, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and Bangladesh Dairy Farmers’ Association. Together, they have established ten smart cattle markets in Dhaka and Chattogram cities.
To enhance the customer experience, Nagad has set up dedicated booths and employed skilled staff within these cattle markets, offering a range of services to buyers and sellers. Nagad has been at the forefront of promoting cashless transactions, and as part of this commitment, it has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring cashless transactions at two smart haats in the capital-Gabtali and Basila cattle markets.

Customers who make transactions using Nagad for buying or selling animals above a certain amount at these cattle markets will be rewarded with attractive merchandise such as t-shirts, caps, mugs, key rings, and pens.
Prior to the establishment of smart cattle haats, Nagad conducted awareness campaigns among farmers across the country. Furthermore, many cattle farmers with trade licenses have been provided with Uddokta accounts, enabling them to safely return home after selling their cattle without the need for carrying cash.
With Nagad accounts, sellers can conveniently withdraw their earnings at the lowest costs from Nagad booths installed at the smart cattle markets. Similarly, interested buyers can also deposit cash as needed. Additionally, cattle farmers can either withdraw the proceeds from their animal sales in cash or securely transfer the funds to their family members’ accounts at home. Opening a Nagad account is also made easy at the booths located within the cattle markets.
Muhammad Zahidul Islam, Head of Public Relations at Nagad, expressed the company’s commitment to being at the forefront of digital initiatives. Nagad fully supports the Bangladesh Bank’s objective of making 75% of the country’s transactions cashless by 2027. He emphasized that Nagad stands by farmers and consumers in making this initiative successful, believing that cashless transactions through Nagad offer maximum security and convenience to customers.

This transition to cashless payments not only curbs the use of counterfeit notes but also plays a crucial role in reducing crime, added Islam.
In addition to smart haats, online sales of sacrificial animals have gained momentum in recent years, with thousands of cattle being traded on digital platforms. Nagad, being the preferred online payment method, continues to serve customers effectively, as highlighted in the press release.
