Nagad supports ‘Great Himalayan Trail’ conqueror Shakil return home
Nagad, a leading mobile financial service in Bangladesh, has come to the aid of Ikramul Hasan Shakil, the first Bangladeshi mountaineer to conquer the Great Himalayan Trail. After successfully completing the challenging expedition, Shakil faced a financial hurdle as he had borrowed money to fund his trekking and was unable to return home to Bangladesh until the amount was repaid.
In response to his situation, Nagad stepped up and provided the necessary funds through one of Shakil’s friends in Bangladesh, Talukdar Moniruzzaman Miltan. Grateful for the support, Shakil expressed his thanks in an online conversation with Tanvir A Mishuk, the founder and managing director of Nagad Limited. With Nagad’s assistance, Shakil can now return to his beloved country with pride after accomplishing the remarkable feat of conquering the Great Himalayan Trail.

On 9 July, Shakil reached the Kanchenjunga base camp, marking the completion of his 1,700-kilometer journey along the Great Himalayan Trail. His challenging trek spanned over 96 days, starting from Hilsa town at the north-west of the Nepal-Tibet border on 1 August 2022. Throughout the expedition, Shakil navigated through 29 difficult mountain passes, including 14 treacherous passes exceeding 5,000 meters in height, all while facing harsh and unpredictable weather conditions.
