Nestlé, a Switzerland-based food and beverage company, with over 155 years of heritage, has played a vital role as a foreign investor in Bangladesh for the past three decades.
Recently, the company showcased its active participation at the ‘FICCI 60 Years Celebration & Investment Expo 2023’, an event of significant importance.
The expo was honored by the presence of the esteemed Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, who unveiled publications by FICCI during her visit. Nestlé’s Chairman and Managing Director, Deepal Abeywickrema, who also serves as the Senior Vice President of FICCI, warmly welcomed the Prime Minister at this grand affair.
Abeywickrema emphasized FICCI’s 60-year journey in Bangladesh, highlighting its integral role in fostering the country’s economic success through substantial Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs). A key highlight of the event was the introduction of the book ‘Catalyzing Greater FDI Vision for 2041: Priorities for Building a Conducive Tax System in Bangladesh’, a publication led by Abeywickrema. This book offers valuable insights and recommendations to establish an investment-friendly tax system, aiming to attract more FDIs and support Bangladesh’s long-term economic goals.

During her visit, the Prime Minister toured the Nestlé Pavilion, acknowledging the brand’s strong connection with the people of Bangladesh. The Swiss Ambassador, Reto Renggli, also attended the event and visited the Nestlé pavilion, highlighting the Swiss presence in Bangladesh through Nestlé. His message showcased the close ties between Switzerland and Nestlé, receiving commendation from attendees and dignitaries present at the expo.
