Nestlé Bangladesh to launch BCSIR invented cereal based fortifier
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) has joined hands with Nestlé Bangladesh to address the challenge of malnutrition in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) has partnered with Nestlé Bangladesh to develop a breakthrough solution to improve the nutritional health of under-five children. Based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Sunday, October 30, the collaboration will result in the development and commercialization of a grain-based tonic.
The BCSIR tonic contains essential vitamins and minerals that are important for the growth and development of young children. It can easily be added to semi-solid or solid foods, increasing the nutritional value of the food.
BCSIR and Nestlé Bangladesh aim to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of children in the country by providing accessible and nutritious food options. The signing of the agreement is another step in their joint efforts to create a healthy future for all.
The press release states that, soon this solution will be available throughout our country and has the potential to eliminate malnutrition among this age group.
As the chief guest of the session, Chairman of BCSIR Professor Dr. Md Aftab Ali Shaikh expressed his hope for the collaboration with Nestlé, saying, “I am hopeful about such collaboration with Nestlé, as it can have huge positive impact on the nutrition sector of the country.”
The session was convened by Mohammed Zaker Hossain, Member (Development) of BCSIR. Nestlé Bangladesh Managing Director, Deepal Abeywickrema, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and emphasized that the organization has been working tirelessly for 29 years to improve the nutrition profile of the country.
This partnership is another demonstration of Nestlé’s vision to harness the power of food for the betterment of everyone’s lives, the press release added.
Other senior representatives from BCSIR and Nestlé Bangladesh were also present at the ceremony.
