As in previous years, Meghna Group of Industries’ (MGI) popular brand ‘Number One’ has once again recognized the talented children of marginal tea shopkeepers and their families. This year, 62 children of tea shop owners who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC and equivalent examinations of 2025, along with their families, were honored at a special reception.

The ceremony, titled ‘Number One Babar Kriti Santhan Sambardhana 2025,’ was held on Saturday (August 30) at a prestigious hotel in Dhaka. In addition to being honored, the students received one-time scholarships, crests, certificates, and other gifts to help them overcome future challenges.

The event was graced by Anisul Haque, Managing Editor of Prothom Alo, alongside senior MGI officials including Chief Accounts Officer Md. Rahmatullah Khandaker, Chief Human Resources Officer Atiq Uz Zaman Khan, and Head of Supply Chain Rashedul Haque.

In his address, Anisul Haque shared motivational stories and told the awardees that poverty is never a barrier to success. “Those who grow up with hardship are the ones who truly grow up,” he said, comparing education to the Parashmani (philosopher’s stone) and urging the children to stay focused on their studies.

Md. Rahmatullah Khandaker highlighted the sacrifices of parents, saying, “Behind every child’s success lies the struggle and sacrifice of their father and mother. We are proud to host this reception for their children. The Number One brand has always stood by them and will continue to do so.” He expressed hope that the honored students will one day illuminate their families and the nation with their achievements.

CHRO Atiq Uz Zaman Khan encouraged the young achievers to grow into “Number One people” — individuals of true character and values.

Parents and students also expressed their gratitude. Jahangir Hossain, father of Zahid Hossain from Kamalapur, Dhaka, said, “This kind of program is truly inspiring. It feels wonderful to come together under one roof with tea shop families from across the country. I thank the Number One brand on behalf of my family.”

From Dinajpur, student Dia Roy shared, “I never imagined I would receive such a grand honor in my life. I am deeply grateful to my family and to the Number One brand.”

As one of MGI’s flagship brands, ‘Number One’ has earned nationwide trust by delivering quality consumer goods including condensed milk, tea leaves, sugar, and powdered milk. Beyond offering essential products, the brand continues to play an important role in improving the livelihoods of tea shopkeepers and supporting their families’ well-being across Bangladesh.
