Rancon Motors Ltd, the general distributor of Mercedes-Benz, has partnered with Genex Infrastructure Ltd to establish nationwide EQ charging stations. Mercedes-Benz Dhaka plans to introduce its EQ lineups by April 2024, featuring 5 different models.
To ensure customer convenience, Genex and Rancon will set up charging stations nationwide before the EQ cars’ launch. Initially, 7 EQ charging stations in Dhaka and 14 in key locations across the country will be established by April 2024.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Rangs Babylonia Tower on February 12, 2023, in Tejgaon I/A.
Representatives from Rancon Motors Limited including Imran Zaman Khan, Divisional Director; Redwanul Zia, Chief Executive Officer; and Chowdhury Md Nabil Hasan, Head of Marketing, were present. From Genex Infrastructure Ltd, Syed Shafiqul Hassan, COO; Mahmudul Hasan Lorance, Deputy General Manager-Finance; Pallab Kumar Paul, Sr Manager (Solution and R&D); and Ghalib Mohammad Karim, Assistant Manager Business Engagement, attended the event.

Bangladesh’s EV-friendly environment, with usual journey routes not exceeding 300km, makes it an ideal market for electric vehicles. Mercedes-Benz and Genex will establish 21 EQ Charging stations covering premium hotels, tourist destinations, highway restaurants, shopping malls, and commercial areas.
Rancon Motors’ initiative reinforces its commitment to environmental stewardship and advancing electric mobility in Bangladesh. Reduced import duty and fuel cost, along with government support, are key factors driving customer interest in electric vehicles.

The “Electric Vehicle Charging Guidelines” by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) aim to establish a wide network of charging stations, aligning with the government’s vision for automotive transformation. Imran Zaman Khan of Rancon Motors emphasized their dedication to realizing a Smart Bangladesh and increasing electric vehicle penetration.
Mahmudul Hasan Lorance of Genex Infrastructure highlighted the importance of meeting the growing demand for charging stations, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
