Rancon Motors, the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Bangladesh, unveiled six new models of electric vehicles (EVs) in a bid to capture the emerging EV market in the country.
The lineup includes the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4matic SUV, EQS 450+ Sedan, EQE 350+ SUV, EQE 53 AMG SUV, EQE Sedan 350+, and EQB. The launch took place at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Purbachal, attended by key figures including Rancon Group Chairman Romo Rouf Chowdhury, Divisional Director Imran Zaman Khan, and CEO Redwanul Zia.
Commenting on the launch, Chowdhury Mohammad Nabil Hasan, head of marketing at Rancon Motors, emphasized the growing significance of the electric car market in Bangladesh, foreseeing its dominance in the future. Hasan highlighted the environmental benefits of EVs and noted the government’s supportive stance towards EV imports, with significantly lower duty compared to conventional vehicles.

Mercedes Benz EVs are priced between Tk 2.50 crore and Tk 3.50 crore, offering a premium but sustainable alternative to traditional automobiles. Hasan expressed confidence in the market potential of Mercedes Benz EVs, particularly targeting business professionals and affluent individuals.
To facilitate the transition to EVs, Rancon Motors collaborated with Genex Infrastructure to establish 21 EV charging stations across the country by April 2024, including seven in Dhaka and 14 in other strategic locations.

The move follows earlier initiatives by Audi Bangladesh, Executive Motors Limited, and CG-Runner Bangladesh, who introduced EVs from brands like Audi, BMW, and BYD Auto Co Ltd, reflecting a growing trend towards sustainable mobility solutions in Bangladesh.
