The demand was made at a news conference on Sunday in the capital by Moazzem Hossain Moti, president of the Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA).

He suggested extending license issue and renewal by at least three or five years, saying that doing so would increase government income.

At the capital’s ICCB’s pre-event press conference for four international trade fairs on garment machines and related items, which will start on January 11 and run through January 14, he spoke about it.

The four-day event will feature the 20th Garment Technology Show Bangladesh 2023 (GTB 2023), 12th International Garment Accessories and Packaging Expo (GAPEXPO 2023), first India Textile Trade Fair Bangladesh 2023 (ITTF Bangladesh 2023) as well as the International Yarn & Fabrics Expo, which will be organized in partnership with BGAPMEA, South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), and ASK Trade and Exhibition Pvt Limited.

In his welcomes, Moazzem Hossain Moti stated, “I extend my greetings to RMG exporters, other allied exporters, and buying houses who will be visiting the exhibition to see the newest innovations and latest collection of our members. Let us all strive for the success of our sector.”

Additionally, he said that the packaging and accessory market is worth $40,000 crore, employs 7 lakh people, and accounts for $7 billion of all RMG exports.

In response to a query, he stated that the industry is capable of producing all backward linkage items. But because many buyers have criteria for obtaining backward linkage components, they only deliver 85% to 90%.

He said, “We implore RMG exporters to persuade purchasers about the excellence of nation-made backward linkage items.

In response to a query, he stated that the GAP sector is also making preparations in line with the BGMEA’s aim of exporting $100 billion annually by 2030.

Currently, he continued, “we can maintain up with the RMG sector’s aim of exporting $54 billion by 2025 and then steadily progressing.”

They require help from government policies in this area, he continued.

ASK Trade and Exhibit Pvt Ltd. managing director Tipu Sultan stated that GTB began its adventure when RMG Exports were $1.8 billion and has been the technology platform for the RMG producers, enabling the sector’s growth over the years.

The 20th edition of GTB 2023 will include cutting-edge technology for the industry, he continued, as the RMG sector in the nation searches for chances in value-added garments and product diversification.

Modern sewing, finishing, embroidery, parts, associated goods, man-made, synthetic, natural, and blended fabrics, dress materials, trimmings, and decorations will all be on display throughout the four-day exhibition.

At the press conference, other speakers included Nanda K. Gopal, director of ASK Trade, and Zahir Uddin Haider, head of the expo’s standing committee.
