Robi Axiata, a leading telecom operator, has inaugurated Bangladesh’s first privately-owned Tier-IV data center, investing $13 million in response to the growing demand for data storage due to increased internet usage and digital service adoption.
The data center, named Cypher, is situated within the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore. This venture marks Robi Axiata’s third data center across Asia, with existing facilities in Sri Lanka and Nepal.
As Robi redefines itself as a technology company, it has expanded its portfolio to include digital services, establishing subsidiaries such as startup investment firm r-Ventures, and IT service providers Red.Digital and Axentec, under which Cypher was developed.
Cypher received the “Tier-IV Certification of Design Documents” from the “Uptime Institute,” ensuring its infrastructure meets the highest standards for fault tolerance and redundancy, minimizing downtime risk for critical operations.
Equipped with a “2N+1” power control system and a 30-minute IPS battery backup, Cypher ensures uninterrupted power supply, supported by an AI-based modular cooling system for optimal performance.

Jashore was chosen as the data center’s location due to its low land rent, flexible facilities, and reduced risk of seismic activity and floods, ensuring operational stability even during natural disasters.
Robi pledges an unparalleled uptime guarantee of 99.995%, complemented by robust security measures including biometric access control and round-the-clock surveillance, providing utmost safety for sensitive data.
The data center inauguration was attended by State Minister for Telecom and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director GSM Jafarullah, Robi CEO Rajeev Sethi, and Axentec CEO Adil Hossain Noble.
