Shwapno gets Super-Samakal Earthquake and Fire Preparedness Award-2023
Leading retail chain Shwapno has been honored with the prestigious Super-Samakal Earthquake and Fire Preparedness Award-2023, a recognition of its efforts in promoting awareness and preparedness for earthquake and fire-related disasters.
The award ceremony took place on August 23 at a hotel in Gulshan, where the winners were presented with crests, certificates, and cash prizes.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Dr. Md Enamur Rahman, presented the second runner-up prize to Md Kamruzzaman, the Media and Public Relations Manager of Shwapno.
The award encompassed activities undertaken from January 1, 2022, to April 10, 2023, with awardees selected by a distinguished jury board.
During the ceremony, Shwapno was represented by Director of Operations Abu Nasser and Manager of Marketing Analytics Sheikh Shafi Mahmood.

The Super-Samakal Earthquake and Fire Preparedness Award-2023 is an initiative of the Strengthening Urban Public Private Programming for Earthquake Resilience (SUPER) project, a consortium effort involving Action Aid Bangladesh, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), United Purpose, and World Vision Bangladesh. The project is financially supported by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECO).
The award, jointly organized by Samakal and the Super Consortium, aims to bolster disaster preparedness efforts and promote awareness. The distinguished panel of judges included Samakal’s Advisory Editor Abu Saeed Khan, Professor Mahbooba Nasreen, Vice-Chancellor of Open University, and Professor Mehdi Ahmed Ansari from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET)’s Civil Engineering Department.
