In a move to improve healthcare access across Bangladesh, SQUARE Group is set to launch “Chhappanno Hazar Square Mile Jure”, a nationwide mobile healthcare initiative commemorating the birth centenary of its founder, Samson H. Chowdhury. The official ceremony will take place on September 25, his 100th birthday, at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kakrail, Dhaka. The initiative will be inaugurated by Samson H. Chowdhury’s sons and daughter, Samuel S Chowdhury, Chairman; Ratna Patra, Vice Chairman; Tapan Chowdhury, Managing Director; Anjan Chowdhury, Director of SQUARE GROUP and family.

This initiative is dedicated to delivering essential healthcare services across 56,000 square miles throughout Bangladesh, reaching remote and underserved communities through mobile clinics and telemedicine. It will focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, providing primary healthcare for the elderly, maternal and childcare services, basic diagnosis and treatment, and free medication for common diseases.

The program aims to carry forward Mr. Chowdhury’s vision of accessible, equitable healthcare for all. With a name symbolizing the 56,000 square miles of Bangladesh, the initiative reflects SQUARE’s commitment to extending healthcare services nationwide, continuing Mr. Chowdhury’s legacy of service and community support.

Managing Director of SQUARE Pharmaceuticals PLC, Tapan Chowdhury, said: “At SQUARE, we believe healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Through SQUARE Mobile Healthcare, we aim to bridge the gap in medical access by bringing doctors, essential medicines, and diagnostic services directly to people’s doorsteps. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a healthier nation by caring for vulnerable communities.”

The inauguration is expected to mark a new milestone in SQUARE’s mission of improving healthcare delivery and supporting the Government’s efforts in strengthening the healthcare system across Bangladesh.

The initiative was announced on September 24 at a press briefing held at the Samson Center in Dhaka, where senior officials from SQUARE were present.
