The sixth edition of the country’s largest talent-based TV reality show, Ispahani Mirzapur Banglabid, focused on promoting the Bengali language, was held in Sylhet Division under the initiative, planning, and sponsorship of Bangladesh’s leading brand, Ispahani Mirzapur.
The Sylhet Division selection round (audition) took place yesterday, Friday, at the Government Agragami Girls’ High School in Sylhet city. Over a thousand students participated in the competition, and after the initial selection round, the top five Banglabid contestants from Sylhet were chosen to move on to the final round in Dhaka.
For the sixth consecutive year, Ispahani Tea Limited is organizing this competition to spread Bengali culture, correct usage of the Bengali language, spelling, and grammar among the younger generation. The competition’s judges were Dr. Jafir Setu, Professor of the Bengali Department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, and renowned recitation artist Mahidul Islam. The competition was hosted by Taheer Shipon of Channel i. The winners were honored with awards presented by Professor Chowdhury Mamun Akbar, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Sylhet, as well as Mohammad Emdadul Islam, Sales Manager at Ispahani Tea Limited, and Mohammad Anisuzzaman Patwari, Senior Regional Manager (Sylhet).

The competition, aimed at students from grades 6 to 10, included a 40-mark literature and grammar-based multiple-choice question round, along with a 30-mark comprehension-based Q&A round. Afterward, the judges evaluated the contestants’ pronunciation, spelling, and grammar usage, selecting the top five contestants who will proceed to the final stage in Dhaka. Additionally, in the “Beautiful Handwriting” competition, the first, second, and third-place winners received financial rewards of 5,000, 3,000, and 2,000 taka respectively, along with certificates.
After the final round in Dhaka, the top Banglabid will receive a scholarship worth 10 lakh taka, with the second and third-place winners receiving scholarships of 3 lakh and 2 lakh taka, respectively. Furthermore, the top 10 contestants will be awarded a laptop and a personal library package worth 50,000 taka in Bengali books and a bookshelf.
