The Mymensingh regional selection round of the country’s largest Bangla language reality TV show, ‘Ispahani Mirzapur Banglabid,’ took place on Saturday at Mymensingh Zilla School. Organized for the sixth consecutive year by leading brand Ispahani Mirzapur, the event saw participation from over a thousand students. After rigorous evaluation, the top five finalists from Mymensingh have advanced to the national finals in Dhaka.
This initiative aims to promote Bangla language and culture among the younger generation, focusing on accurate usage, pronunciation, and spelling. The competition was judged by Dr. Marzia Akter, professor and director of the Bangla Language and Literature Department at Kazi Nazrul Islam University, and renowned elocutionist Mahidul Islam. The event was hosted by Channel i’s Taher Shipon.

The winners were honored with certificates and prizes by Mufidul Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh, alongside A.S.M. Hasan, Sales Manager, and Mir Matiul Islam, Regional Manager of Ispahani Tea Limited.
Participants from grades six to ten competed in two rounds: a 40-mark multiple-choice test on literature and grammar and a 30-mark comprehension test. The top 20 contestants were then assessed on their pronunciation, spelling, and grammatical accuracy, from which the final five were selected for the Dhaka round. Additionally, a ‘Best Handwriting’ contest awarded the top three participants with cash prizes of BDT 5,000, BDT 3,000, and BDT 2,000, along with certificates.

The national finals will crown the country’s best Banglabid, awarding a scholarship worth BDT 10 lakh to the champion. The first and second runners-up will receive BDT 3 lakh and BDT 2 lakh respectively. The top 10 finalists will also be gifted laptops and Bangla book collections worth BDT 50,000, complete with bookshelves to start their personal libraries.
