In 2023, Uber trips in Bangladesh covered an astonishing distance of 175 million kilometers. To put this into perspective, it surpasses the distance from Earth to the Sun. To cover this vast distance, sound would take approximately 13 years and 10 months, while Uber trips in Bangladesh manage to achieve this in just one year.

Uber, the leading ride-hailing app in the country, unveiled its annual analysis of Uber trips on Wednesday, January 11. The report aims to provide insights into how people utilized ride-hailing services and sheds light on the evolving landscape of mobility. By analyzing its data, the annual report delves into the urban mobility trends that shaped the year in Bangladesh.

Looking back at 2023 – A Year in Review:

175 Million Kilometers: Uber trips in Bangladesh throughout 2023 covered an astounding 175 million kilometers. This distance exceeds the span from Earth to the Sun. To put it in perspective, sound would take approximately 13 years and 10 months to cover this distance, whereas Uber trips accomplished it within a single year.

Over 3 Lakh Earners: Throughout the years, Uber has provided livelihood opportunities for tens of thousands of individuals. More than 300,000 drivers have earned through the Uber app, establishing it as the preferred multimodal ridesharing platform. With its emphasis on safety, convenience, and affordability, Uber has served over 6 million riders in Bangladesh.

The Most Popular Month: Uber emerged as the go-to partner during the rainy season, with the most popular month of the year, in terms of the number of trips booked, being the monsoon month of May. This highlights Uber’s commitment to offering convenient and secure mobility solutions, particularly during challenging weather conditions.

Popular Days and Dates:

Riders in Bangladesh favored booking most of their trips between 2 PM and 3 PM.

The highest number of trips in a single day occurred on December 21 and December 28. These were Thursday and Sunday, respectively, suggesting that Bangladeshis preferred these days for socializing with friends and family and commuting to work.

Similarly, the two most popular days of the week for booking trips in 2023 were Friday and Saturday.

This year, Uber introduced “Reserve,” allowing riders in Bangladesh to pre-book their rides anywhere from 30 minutes to 30 days ahead of their planned travel.
