Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC (WHILPLC), the country’s leading superbrand and technology giant, held its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka with a strong presence of shareholders and officials.

At the meeting, shareholders praised the board of directors for declaring a 175% cash dividend and a 10% stock dividend, despite global economic volatility and domestic political challenges. They also expressed confidence in Walton’s future growth, especially with its recent announcement to establish a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery plant in Bangladesh.

The AGM was chaired by S M Shamsul Alam, Chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam, and other board members, including independent directors and senior officials, were also present.

In his remarks, Chairman S M Shamsul Alam highlighted Walton’s role in taking the “Made in Bangladesh” brand to the global stage through innovation, skilled manpower, and sustainable industrialization. He noted that Walton’s products are now exported to over 50 countries, contributing significantly to foreign currency earnings and job creation.

Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam presented the annual report for FY 2024–25, announcing that Walton achieved a record profit exceeding Tk 1,000 crore through strategic planning and efficient cost management. He also revealed that Walton has become the regional official sponsor of the Argentina National Football Team, featuring global icons Lionel Messi and Emiliano Martínez in its international campaigns — a move expected to strengthen Walton’s brand presence in more than 100 countries.

The AGM approved the company’s financial statements, audit reports, and the reappointments of A Qasem & Co. as statutory auditors and Mohammad Sanaullah & Associates as corporate governance auditors for FY 2025–26.
