Walton is playing a key role in the country’s economic development, progress and growth, according to Land Minister
The Land Minister, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said that Walton is a national asset and the pride of the country. He went on to say that Walton is making a significant contribution to the economic development, progress, and growth of the country. They produce high-quality products such as refrigerators, LED TVs, air conditioners, washing machines, smartphones, etc.
The A to Z materials needed to make a fridge are being produced in Walton’s factories. They are exporting goods to Europe, America and Asian countries. It’s a huge achievement for us.
Mostafizur Rahman, the land minister, made the remarks after visiting Walton headquarters at Chandra in Gazipur on Wednesday. At that time, the secretary of the Ministry of Land was accompanying the minister.
The Vice-Chairman of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc, SM Shamsul Alam, the Directors SM Ashraful Alam, SM Rezaul Alam and SM Monjurul Alam and the Managing Director and CEO Golam Murshed greeted the guests with flowers when they arrived at the headquarters complex in the morning.
Upon arriving at the headquarters, guests were first treated to a video documentary on the production process of various Walton products. They then visited Walton’s impressive product display center before being given a tour of the company’s state-of-the-art production facilities, including the refrigerator, compressor, lift, metal casting, mold, SMT and other production plants.
After the inspection, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said, “Walton has built an impressive and well-integrated manufacturing village. Although many big groups in the country have backward linkage factories, they are isolated. However, Walton has set up a manufacturing plant of finished goods and spare parts in one place. I commend Walton’s entrepreneurs for their hard work in building an integrated manufacturing village.”
At one point, our country’s demand for electronics products was only being met by imported goods. Now, not only are we producing our own electronics products, but we’re also supplying accessories to the world’s biggest brands. This is a huge achievement for Walton and for Bangladesh as a whole.
The minister praised the private sector, such as Walton, for their immense contribution to Bangladesh’s current economic development, progress and growth. He noted that Walton has now expanded its reach beyond Bangladesh’s borders to meet local demand. By doing so, they have not only reduced the country’s dependency on imports, but also earned a significant amount of foreign exchange through exports.
The Minister of Land, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, has stated that the government is giving priority to local institutions and entrepreneurs. He says that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that they can participate in the digitalization activities of the Land Ministry and its offices.
