Walton Television is taking a big step into the future by lending its cutting-edge facilities to Aspire to Innovate (a2i) for Bangladesh’s inaugural lunar satellite project. Recently, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Walton TV and a2i, marking a pivotal partnership.
During the MoU signing, Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Project Director of a2i, and Nazrul Islam Sarker, Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, formalized this collaboration. The event was graced by Md Shamsul Arefin, Secretary of the ICT Division, as the chief guest, and Anir Chowdhury, a2i’s project adviser, who joined virtually as a special guest.
Speaking at the event, ICT Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin highlighted the moon’s potential, noting helium-3 as a valuable resource for clean energy. He emphasized the moon’s significance as a potential hub for future business, acknowledging Walton TV’s contribution to the country’s lunar satellite mission.
Nazrul Islam Sarker from Walton Hi-Tech expressed confidence in providing a2i with the advanced cleanroom and lab research technology necessary for the successful execution of the lunar satellite project. He emphasized Walton’s possession of state-of-the-art facilities required for television production.

Engineer Mostafa Nahid Hossain, Chief Business Officer of Walton TV, highlighted their manufacturing plant’s high-standard ISO class 7 dust-free clean room, research lab, and testing facilities. He assured their readiness to offer these facilities to any institution in need.
Arman Ibne Shahjahann, Coordinator of the Lunar Satellite Assembling Project at Walton TV, expressed pride in being part of Bangladesh’s first NASA-endorsed lunar satellite development mission.

This collaboration aims to develop a femto-shaped satellite for NASA’s Glee mission, involving a2i, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University, and Walton Television’s Research and Innovation Center. Bangladesh’s participation in the ‘The Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone’ by NASA’s Colorado Space Grand Consortium marks a significant step, potentially placing Bangladesh among the ‘Lunar Elite Club’ of 30 countries.
The MoU signing was attended by key figures including Naeem Ashrafi from a2i Innovation Fund, Zahid Hasan Shovon, the Lunar Satellite Project Team Leader, Abir Ahmed from Walton TV, Mithun Chakraborty, Head of Research and Innovation at Walton TV, and senior officials from both Walton and a2i.
