Zaved Akhtar, the Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd., has been elected as the President of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for the next two years, taking over from Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, who served from 2022-2023.
The recent annual general meeting at the Westin Dhaka saw the election of Eric M Walker, Managing Director of Chevron Bangladesh, as the Senior Vice-President, and Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone Ltd, as the Vice-President. Additionally, a 15-member board of directors was announced by FICCI.
The new board will officially commence their term on January 1, following the conclusion of the current board’s tenure on December 31 this year.
Zaved Akhtar expressed gratitude for the role and highlighted his commitment to driving FICCI’s success. He acknowledged his predecessor, Naser Ezaz Bijoy, for his leadership and expressed enthusiasm for working with the board and member companies to elevate FICCI further.

Naser, the outgoing president, praised the support from the FICCI board during his term and extended congratulations to the newly elected members. He expressed confidence in the new board’s ability to strengthen partnerships and collaborations with the government, aligning with Vision 2041 for a more advanced and progressive Bangladesh.
