3 future architects gets KSRM Awards

Kabir Steel Re-Rolling Mills (KSRM) and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) awarded three talented future architects for submitting the best undergraduate theses.

Fahim Ashfaq Farooqui, a student from Chittagong University of Science and Technology (CHUTE), secured the first position, followed by Mahia Mustari Nausheen from Bangladesh University of Science and Technology (BUET) in second place, and Israt Jahan, also from BUET, in third place.

The winners were presented with cheques of Tk 1 lakh, Tk 75,000, and Tk 50, respectively, along with a memento, as stated in a press release.

Mir Manjurur Rahman, the chief architect of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, graced the occasion as the chief guest at the IAB Centre in Agargaon, where he presented the awards and mementos to the winners.

Rahman expressed his commendation for the initiative undertaken by KSRM and IAB, highlighting its significance.

The partnership between KSRM and IAB was formalized in 2019 through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a duration of 10 years. Under this collaboration, awards are presented to future architects for exemplary research papers.

Participation in the competition is open to final-year undergraduate students from 13 esteemed architecture educational institutions. The top three performers from each institution then proceed to compete in the final round.

Colonel (Retd) Md Ashfaqul Islam, the general manager of the market research and development branch at KSRM, emphasized the importance of acknowledging the innovative ideas of young minds in shaping the future.

The event was attended by Mizanul Islam, media and public relations adviser at KSRM, Saiful Alam Chowdhury, legal adviser, and Moniruzzaman Riad, deputy manager, among others.
