bKash gives away books to underprivileged children at Ekushey Book Fair

bKash, the sponsor of the Ekushey Book Fair, is collecting books from visitors, writers, and publishers to distribute to underprivileged children’s libraries and other libraries across the country. The books will be given to the Prothom Alo Trust for distribution.

As part of the initiative, books were recently handed over to children from three schools in Niamatpur Upazila, Naogaon District, and Godagari Upazila run by Prothom Alo Trust. Anisul Haque, the Managing Editor of Daily Prothom Alo and writer, and Shamsuddin Haider Dalim, the Head of Corporate Communications for bKash, were present for the occasion.

Mr. Haque praised bKash’s initiative, saying that it will help develop the children’s intelligence and thinking process. Mr. Dalim said that bKash has been involved in book distribution initiatives for the past few years and that this year, they will add books donated by themselves to the books collected from readers, writers, and publishers.

In the last three years, bKash has distributed 72,500 books through this initiative during the book fair. This year, they have set up booths in the fair where visitors can drop off new or old books, or they can visit a bKash Customer Service Center outside of Dhaka to donate.

The students at the three schools were thrilled to receive the books from bKash. This year, book lovers can also enjoy a 10% instant cashback on bKash payments at the book fair, with a maximum cashback of Tk100. If someone makes a payment of Tk500 or more, they will receive an additional Tk50 coupon. In addition, bKash has set up refreshment facilities and a puppet show for children and teenagers, and visitors can also open a bKash account on the fair premises.
